Reviewer Lee Hartgrave
says: - "the absolutely fantastic Tony Malfatti, who
plays sax, clarinet and flute. Not only does he play
them - he twists and turns each note as if he were
entwining us with come-hither sounds. No wonder the
audience was jumping up and down - their seats were on
fire."

RANZELL MERRITT
. ...and
Ranzell Merritt on drums., has been written in many
languages. As one of the West Coast.s premier
percussionists, he is always "first call" when he's in
the Country. He's an impeccable timekeeper
Jesse DeTorres

Jesse DeTorres,
the lead
vocalist for JD & Company, is known for his
versatility; no genre is foreign to him.
Jesse, in one evening, sang R&B; he did some back-up
for another performer; he sang a ballad and then, as
if he hadn't been versatile enough, he sang an Al
Jolson tune, just the way Al Jolson sung it. The
crowd loved it. It all took place during a FIRST
SUNDAY SHOW at the Liberty Hotel and he has been a
favorite of our audience since. He was a soloist at
his church, too, and although he has never done a
sacred song for us, my bet is, he would .sing like
and angel..
Jesse,
born and
raised in Pittsburg, started his singing career at
the age of 9, with his older brother and cousin;
they were called The 3-J.s. As a teenager, he joined
a dance band called The Ray-vens and they
participated in numerous .battle of the bands. up
and down the state. He has demonstrated his vocal
skills at the Grand Lake Theatre in Oakland; the
Rick Shaw in Waikiki; the Kuwa Club in San
Francisco; and he did a tribute to Al Jolson at
Melody Land in Los Angeles. If you are old enough to
remember what a radio is, you might have heard him
in commercials for Taco Bell, Mexicana Airlines and
Birkenstock Shoes.
As
lead vocalist, with JD &
Company since the late 70.s, he has played in most
of the Western States, including Nevada.

Terrence Brewer
Winner of the SF Weekly Music Award for “Best
Jazz Artist” and the Oakland Chamber of Commerce “Artist of the Year” Award, San
Francisco Bay area jazz guitarist Terrence Brewer is back with a new album, a
new band, and a fresh sound! QuintEssential, produced by Strong Brew Music and
recorded at the world famous Fantasy Studios, is the highly anticipated follow
up to Brewer’s debut records, The Calling: Volume One and Volume Two (April
2006). As one of the last recordings at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, CA before
the studio closed its doors in September 2007, QuintEssential is a rare
treasure. “Brewer has a natural, inviting sound that instantly transports you
back to the heyday of classic jazz guitar…” writes David Rubien (San Francisco
Chronicle feature, March 20, 2007). “(Brewer is) A naturally gifted player with
a beautiful, warm tone and a melodic penchant, his playing is eminently
pleasing…” penned Bill Milkowski (Jazz Times May 2007). The San Francisco
Chronicle included Brewer in a short list of “whom to stalk” in Bay Area jazz in
2007.

Leo Vigil
Leo is one of San
Francisco Bay Area’s premiere drummers. His ability to play many styles of
music has kept him busy on stage as well as in the studio. His love for music
shows through his aggressive, yet dynamic playing. He can pound lightning-fast
double bass rhythms or accent with subtle tones and sounds on the drum set. His
versatility keeps him busy whether it is Rock, Jazz, Metal, Latin, Funk, Reggae,
Blues, Country, or Soul—he is proficient at all styles. His diverse style has
allowed him to share the stage with such acts as: Eddie Money, Ronnie Montrose,
Rick Derringer, Elvin Bishop, Foghat, Y&T, Night Ranger, Three Dog Night, B.J.
Thomas, Boz Skaggs, Greg Kihn, The Untouchables, The Rippingtons, Poncho
Sanchez, George Santana, Steve Miller, Greg Adams, The Crusaders, Craig Chaquico,
Phil Perry, Eric Marienthal and many others.
DOUG ARRINGTON

Warm, intimate,
intense, electric and buoyant. Doug Arrington is masterful
at creating a mood. His incredible voice range and
charismatic personality give him the power to control the
mood of his audience as a vocalist. He can further set the
emotional tone with original lyrics to fit any occasion.
This makes him an extremely popular performer in venues
where he can engage in musical repartee and improvisation.
He is ideal for our FIRST SUNDAY setting .
